Getting regular sleep is important to our health. Everyone need a regular sleep at regular pattern to allow your brain to repair itself. Most people need 7 to 8 hrs of sleep every day. Not enough sleep can cause health problems, fatigue and accidents. When people break regular sleeping pattern, they ask for the sleeping problems.

Before your go to sleep, do something quite and soothing (like reading, warm bath, drink warm milk or decaf tee). Normally, you should fall asleep within 15 minutes. If you do not fall asleep within 15 minutes, get up and do something else. Do not lie in bad thinking about you cannot fall asleep. It will make things worse. Caffeine, alcohol, big dinner, loud TV or music, active games, dancing, exercise which are close to the bed time will stimulate sleeping problems. Your body needs to calm down and get ready for sleeping. Taking a nap close to bedtime will prevent a good night sleep.

Everyone must know, what is normal sleeping means for them. Some people can take a nap in the middle of the day to compensate for sleepless night-and it is perfectly fine. Some people can get alone with less than 7 hrs of sleep - and feel fine. Many sleeping disorders comes with age. Older people sleep less and not as deep as younger people. Some prescriptions drugs cause sleep interruption.

Sleep problems can be cured. The first step in the cure is to be aware of the problem and knowing that something can be done. Occasional sleepless nights can be caused by stress or anxiety. Doctors believe, that this should not alarm people. Chronic insomnia usually affects your daytime function.

Prescription sedative pills are useful in temporary situation to overcome certain emotions. They should not be taken longer than 2 weeks.
